I rode to the start of the bike festival. “One, two, three, go!” yelled the timekeeper. I had a late start so I was fifty metres behind the other racers. They missed the first sign, which was a bike in a tree with the front wheel pointing right, so I knew to turn right, which put me in the lead. If I won, I’d get a brand new bike. “I have to win”, I said to myself, as I picked up my speed. I flew over a huge dirt, rocky jump and won the brand new green, striped, mountain bike.

Hello Caelie, what a great story! I really like the action you have created in your story and I think you have been so creative in having the bike pointing the way you have to ride for the competition. I like how you have recorded the words and thoughts of the rider. I was cheering the rider on over every bump and hoping that they would win the bike. Great writing.
