The mist hung low upon the sodden ground as in a clearing up ahead squawking and conversation be heard. Intrigued by the sounds, I pressed on further to see creatures with wooly, beaver-like faces and bat-like wings. I reeled back in fear. What on earth were these things?
Several creatures looked up to where I was hiding, made a few clicks as their wings fluttered out, revealing a two foot wingspan. I felt a whoosh of air as four of them took off and landed next to me with a loud thud. My heart skipped a beat. I’d better scarper.
